Wyatt to make State Team ‘Debut’

Fremantle’s Deon Wyatt was selected in this year’s State Team to represent Western Australia at the upcoming Australian Championships being held in Moama NSW in August later this year.

Deon turned in an impressive performance over the two day trials held at the Belmont Sport & Recreation Club last weekend to secure a place in this year’s State Team.

Eight players from across the State were chosen to represent WA at the Championships that sees the best players from each State in Australia compete in the week long Australian Championships.

Best wishes and good luck to Deon and rest of the WA team

Under 60 Doubles & Under 45 Singles ‘Round Up’

Another brilliant night of darts at the Spearwood Dalmatinac Club last night with 73 starters taking
part in the second graded event for the year, the Under 45 Singles and the Under 60 Doubles.
In a solid display of darts all night, fast improving Shane Wright (Dalmatinac Club) and seasoned
campaigner Charlie Lionti (Fremantle Italian Club) took out the honours in the Under 60 Doubles
after defeating Matt Machin (Dalmatinac Club) and Darrin Sigley (Fremantle Italian Club).

Shane Wright & Charlie Lionti

The Under 45 Singles was another a closely contested affair with some great darts being thrown
throughout the night. None better than that of Bevin Harding (Dalmatinac Club) who was the
eventual winner over Jim Meek (Nomads)

Pat Gallacher Honoured

Pat Gallacher Honoured

At this year’s State Teams Championships, long-time Fremantle member and Committee man Pat Gallacher was presented with Darts Western Australia’s highest honour by being awarded Life Membership.

Pat has been a well-known identity within the darting community for many years, not only as a player but a mentor and administrator and is highly respected by the entire WA darting community.

In an emotional presentation after the Championships, newly appointed DWA President Ricky Pickett spoke highly of Pat’s darting achievements over the years along with the contribution he has made to the game.

Congratulations Pat…..very well deserved.

Darts WA State Teams Championships ‘Round Up’

Darts WA State Teams Championships ‘Round Up’

The Belmont Sports & Recreation Centre was at full capacity last weekend with 241 players from all over the State taking part in the Darts WA State Teams Championships. It was a ‘Who’s Who’ of the WA darting world with the cream of the States players all in action.

Pat Gallacher and his chargers reigned supreme in Division 1 and after dropping only one game all weekend were rewarded for their efforts with ‘Gold’…….well done to Pat and the boys on a brilliant win.

Division 1. – “GOLD”

L-R:  Dave Charnock, Deon Wyatt, Lewis Kirk, Pat Gallacher (NPC) Kristina Gallacher (Manageress)

Kim Lewis, Tim Pusey & Brodie Little

Guided by newly appointed Captain Steve Doherty, the lads in Division 4 also showed their dominance, suffering only one 6-5 loss for the weekend. A great ‘All Round’ team effort and some very good signs for the future for Fremantle with Matt Machin and Jordan Parker both acquitting themselves well on debut.

       Division 4. – “GOLD”

L-R:  Adam Linford, Jordan Parker, Steve Doherty (Capt.), Darrin Sigley, Paul Brotherston & Matt Machin

Our No. 2 team, also in Division 1, were gallant all weekend but unfortunately unplaced at the completion of the Championships.

Finally, hearty congratulations to Dave Charnock, Matt Moody, Brad Harding and Deon Wyatt on being invited to trial on May 27th and 28th for possible selection in this year’s State Team…….good luck boys !
