Game On!

The FDDA 2020 Season will officially recommence on Wednesday 24th June (Round 3.)

The decision was made by members at last night’s Delegates Meeting who decided to restart the season but reduce the fixtured games to fifteen instead of the original twenty.

Unfortunately the ‘Nomads’ playing out of the Melville Bowling Club have been forced to withdraw from the fixtured season and the number five (5) position in both the ‘A’ Grade and ‘D’ Grades will now become a BYE. (Revised fixtures are available on this webpage)

Additionally, while their Clubhouse is undergoing renovations, the Willagee Rugby Club will play their HOME games at the Cockburn Bowling Club until further notice.

An amnesty for Inter-Club transfers will be in place for this season to allow those players whose teams may have dismantled because of player’s health concerns and are still wishing to play, may seek a game at a Club that is in need of players but current grade ceilings must still be adhered to.

Note: There will be no penalties imposed this season for teams forfeiting as a result of health concerns but please apply common courtesy by advising opposition teams as early as possible.

The new revised fixtures are now posted within the website. Good luck to all for the remainder of the season.

Silver and Gold for FDDA at the 2019 Metros Championships

With a relatively ‘New Look’ Division 1. Team, the boys performed solidly all weekend but
were sadly ‘Pipped on the Post’ in the very last leg of the day to finish a close second.

The competition in Division 2. was of an extremely high standard and unfortunately the
‘Dart Gods’ were not smiling on our boys come ‘Pegging Time’. With only one win for the
weekend, the team finished in sixth position.

Our Division 3 team was a late inclusion to the competition and what a fantastic result
with the boys losing only one game for the weekend to finish WINNERS in that Division

AGM done and dusted

Last night (Tuesday 5th December) the FDDA held its AGM. We had a great turnout with nearly all clubs represented and having their opportunity to have a say in how the association runs.

It was a pretty quick meeting and we will send more information through soon but the biggest news of the night involved a couple of changes to the committee.

We had two longtime members retire from the committee, the first being Phil Marshall who has been replaced by Dave Charnock. We wish Phil all the best in his pending retirement and thank him for his time on the committee. At the same time we welcome Dave to the team and look forward to his input over the next couple of years.

The second retirement is extremely significant. After 28 years of service, Denise Dyer chose to not renominate for the position of Secretary and also retire after what can only be described as an incredible period of service and dedication to the association. We of course also wish Denise all the very best and thank her too for an amazing effort over such a long time.

We received two nominations for the position of secretary and after a committee vote just prior to the AGM, Ross Thompson was elected as our new Secretary so welcome Ross and congratulations on your election.

There is much to do in 2018 as we look to keep improving the association and setting it up for future growth. We look forward to the entire membership embracing some new concepts for the coming year and working together to make sure we remain an energetic and progressive competition.

Stay tuned!
