Premier League 2022

Finals ‘Round Up’

The Spearwood Dalmatinac Club once again played host to this year’s Fremantle ‘Premier League Finals’. The night was tipped to be an absolute cracker with the cream of WA’s dart players battling it out to see who would be crowned Champion for 2022.

Q F 1.  (Best of 11)     Kim Lewis (75.6) defeated Mick Zdun (70.85)                       6 – 2

Q F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (91.05) defeated Deon Wyatt (80.00)              6 – 2

Q F 3.  (Best of 11)     Dave Charnock (89.78) defeated Denis Parr (79.62)            6 – 2

Q F 4.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (78.48) defeated Lewis Kirk (70.20)                     6 – 2

S F 1.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (91.10) d Kim Lewis (78.59)                              6 – 2

Tim jumped out the blocks winning the first four legs before Kim pegged in the 5th leg to register his account. Kim won the next leg but was down on his recent good form and Tim responded by winning the next two legs comfortably.

S F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (95.84) d Dave Charnock (82.94)                  6 – 5

The 2nd Semi of the night was an absolute ripper. Both players started off a little slow but the tempo really picked up as the game progressed. Dave taking out the first leg but Bailey quickly followed pegging 16 and 44 in 16 and 15 dart legs. Dave responded taking out 105 in a tidy 15 dart leg making the score line 2 all. It was ‘Tit for Tat’ for the next four legs with heavy scoring and clinical pegging from both players, score line 4 – 4. Bailey turned on an absolute ‘Pearler’ with a 130 peg in 12 darts to take leg nine before Dave responded with a 120 check out in 18 darts to make it 5 – 5. Bailey with the shot in the deciding leg opened with a 180, followed by 134, 47 then a brilliant 140 peg (54, 54, 32) to take the win.

Final    (Best of 13)     Bailey Marsh (95.87) d Tim Pusey (90.83)                          7 – 6

The replay of last year’s final between two of the state’s best young dartplayers did not disappoint with both turning on some power scoring and brilliant pegging. ‘The Magnet’ Tim Pusey got off to a good start taking out the first two legs before Bailey registered his account pegging 36 to win the third leg. Tim responded with scores of 100, 140, 100, 137 and 24 peg to take the 4th leg, followed by the 5th. With the score line at 4 – 1 Pusey’s way it was looking like it could be a reversal of last year’s result but Bailey had other ideas taking out the 6th leg in 14 darts (85,140,100,136, 40 peg). Tim won the 7th leg before Bailey turned up the heat with an impressive 13 dart leg in the 8th (140, 81,180, 60, 40 peg) to make the score line 5 – 3 Pusey’s way. Tim pegged the next leg to take the score 6 – 3 his way and the finish line was in sight BUT “The Ghost” wasn’t done yet. The reigning ‘Champ’ turned it on to take out the next four legs straight, giving Bailey Marsh the ‘Back to Back’ title.

Congratulations to Bailey on a well deserved win, commiserations once again to Tim and a big thank you to everybody that came along to watch and make the 2022 Premier League’ finals a night to remember.

Big Thanks to organiser and Semi/Grand Final caller Glen McLeod for a well run night.
