FDDA 2023 Premier League ‘Round Up’

Premier League 2023

Finals ‘Round Up’

The Spearwood Dalmatinac Club again played host to this year’s Fremantle ‘Premier League Finals’. The night was tipped to be an absolute cracker and did not disappoint with the ‘Top 8’ Premier League players battling it out to see who would be crowned Champion for 2023.

Q F 1.  (Best of 11)     Kim Lewis (87.55) defeated Gary Stevens (67.50)                6 – 0

Q F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (82.48) defeated Ron Kneale (75.40)              6 – 4

Q F 3.  (Best of 11)     Dave Charnock (79.60) defeated Lewis Kirk (64.29)             6 – 2

Q F 4.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (80.57) defeated Alec McAvoy (70.95)                6 – 3

S F 1.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (88.89) d Dave Charnock (81.03)                      6 – 1

Tim jumped out the blocks winning the first five legs before Dave could register his account, pegging 80 in the 6th leg. Dave was playing well but could not match for the power scoring of ‘The Magnet’ and was comfortably beaten in the next leg.

S F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (85.33) d Kim Lewis (78.65)                          6 – 4

The 2nd Semi of the night was an absolute ripper. Kim took the early lead, winning the first 3 x legs before the reigning champ kicked into second gear and rattled off the next 5 x legs on the trot. Kim Bounced back taking out the 9th leg but ‘The Ghost’ had the finish line in his sights and took out the 10th leg comfortably.

Final    (Best of 13)     Tim Pusey (90.54) d Bailey Marsh (81.64)                          7 – 4

A replay of the last two year’s final between two of the state’s most exciting and talented young dartplayers did not disappoint with both turning on some power scoring and clinical pegging. Bailey drew first blood, taking out the first leg in 19 darts before Tim bounced back taking out the next four legs in 15, 15, 18 &15 darts.

Bailey was quick to respond by winning the next two legs that included a nice 106 check out

With the score line now at 4 – 3 Tim’s way, he chimed in with another 15 dart leg to extend his lead to 5 – 3. Bailey was having none of it and took the next leg out in 18 darts to make the score line now 5 – 4 but ‘The Magnet’, with the finish line in sight reeled the next two legs off to take out this year’s title.

Congratulations to Tim on a well-deserved win, commiserations to Bailey and a big thank you to everybody that came along to watch and make the 2023 Premier League’ finals a night to remember.
