Under 60 Singles & Under 45 Doubles ‘Round Up’

Even the chilly wintery conditions couldn’t deter the 75 men and women that came along for the last graded event for the season, the Under 60 Singles and Under 45 Doubles.

The Under 60 Singles was a closely contested affair and consistancy would play a major part. Cockburn Bowling Club’s Grant Werner was playing well and defeated Dalmatinac’s Brock Blake to earn himself a spot in the final while in the other Semi, Paul Brotherston pipped team mate Gary Hunter at the post to secure his final’s spot. The boys went hard at it in the Best of 5 Final with Paul Brotherston taking the honours in the final leg.

The Under 45 Doubles saw some great match ups with some of the early favourites ‘Falling by the way’.  The Jandakot Jets pairing of Peter Nahirny and Thomas Jeges were playing solidly and accounted for the Dallies pair of Jason Richards and Des Franklin in the Semi’s to advance to the final whilst in the other Semi, it was the Cockburn’s Lisa Ward and Tim Barnes that edged out the Hilton ‘Navy’s’ Amanda Beedeison and Syd Game to secure their spot.

In the final, he Jandakot Jets boys turned on a really solid performance taking out the honours with a 2 – 0 victory.

Open Singles & U/50 Doubles ‘Round Up’

Eighty starters braved the wintery conditions last night to contest the annual ‘Open Singles’ and ‘Under 50 Doubles’ at the home of Fremantle darts, the Spearwood Dalmatinac Club.

In the Singles, a talented field saw solid performers Matt Moody defeat Kim Lewis and Lewis Kirk defeat Steele Flight in the Semi’s to book their places in the final. Kirk played well (73.63) but just could not match the ‘In Form’ Moody (74.41) who powered to a 5 – Nil victory to eventually take the honours.

Matt Moody joins an elite group of previous winners that include 4 x Winner Barry Mader (1974, 80, 81 & 82), Graham Hunt (1987,95,96 & 98) and 5 x Winner ‘The Legend’ Kimberly Lewis (1997, 06, 08, 2012 & 2019)

The Under 60 Doubles also saw some great match ups throughout the night with many of the games going to the final 5th Leg. The ‘Kardy Kats’ pairing of Mark Walsh and Aaron Nicholas were consistant all night and deserved their place in the final against the steady Dalmatinac Club’s Gary Hunter and Paul Brotherston with the latter proving a smidgeon too strong, eventually taking out the title.

Congratulations and well done to the ‘Old Maestro‘ Gary Hunter on his brilliant 170 Peg

Premier League Finals ‘Round Up’

      Bailey Marsh & Tim Pusey

The Spearwood Dalmatinac Club again played host to this year’s ‘Premier League Finals’. The night was tipped to be an absolute cracker and did not disappoint with the ‘Top 8’ Premier League players battling it out to see who would be crowned Champion for 2024.

 Q F 1.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (87.56) defeated Kim Lewis (79.14)                   6 – 2

Q F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (76.42) defeated Ron Kneale (68.35)              6 – 0

Q F 3.  (Best of 11)     Dave Burke (75.27) defeated Lewis Kirk (71.07)                  6 – 2

Q F 4.  (Best of 11)     Denis Parr (75.15) defeated Gary Stevens (68.71)               6 – 5

S F 1.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (92.60) d Dave Burke (81.88)                            6 – 2

Tim jumped out the blocks winning the first three legs before Dave could register his account, taking out the 4th leg in 13 darts before Tim rattled off the next two legs to make it 5 – 1 his way. Dave was playing well but could not match the power scoring of the young ace, taking out the winning leg in 12 darts (137, 134, 180 & 50 Peg)

 S F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (82.25) d Denis Parr (80.56)                          6 – 5

The 2nd Semi of the night was an absolute ripper. Both players going ‘Hammer & Tong’ and after 6 x legs were 3 x legs each. Bailey put his foot on the pedal and took out the next 3 x legs to make the score line 6 – 3 his way. The “Menace” wasn’t done yet and chimed in with a brilliant 12 darter in Leg 9 (140, 180, 96 & 85 Peg) and also took out Leg 10 to make it 5 Legs a piece before Bailey took out the 10th leg to earn himself a spot in the Final .

 Final    (Best of 13)     Tim Pusey (91.30) d Bailey Marsh (85.57)                          7 – 6

A replay of the last three year’s final between two of the state’s most exciting and talented young dartplayers did not disappoint with both players turning on some power scoring and clinical pegging. Bailey drew first blood, taking out the first leg in 14 darts (62 Peg) before Tim bounced back taking out Leg 2 but Bailey was quick to respond with an awesome 12 dart game in Leg 3 that included a 135 check out. The boys were going hard at it and after 6 x Legs, the score line was 3 – 3 before Bailey took out Legs 7 and 8 to make it 5 – 3 his way.

The “Magnet” was having none of it and rattled off the next 3 x Legs to take him 1 x Leg from victory but “The Ghost” wasn’t done yet and chimed in with a brilliant 13 dart game to make to score line 6 x games each. Tim had ‘The Shot’ in the last leg and took full advantage, taking out 32 (Bailey wanting 40) to take out this year’s title of ‘Premier League Champion’.

Congratulations to Tim, commiserations to Bailey and a big thank you to Mike Condon, Dave Charnock and Lewis Kirk for all their help and also to everybody that came along to watch an awesome game of “Premier League darts.

U/60 Singles & U/45 Doubles ‘Round Up’

The final ‘Graded’ Singles and Doubles event for the 2024 season saw some fantastic darts thrown in both the Under 60 Singles and the Under 45 Doubles. The Fremantle Italian Club’s Darrin Sigley was solid all night and edged out  the Dalmatinac Club’s Gary Hunter in a hard fought singles final, whilst the Doubles final was an all Jandakot Jets affair with seasoned campaigners Peter Nahirney and Shane Marciano proving too strong for Club team mates Conrad Dalais and Tony Sharland.

Finally, our thanks to the Dalmatinac Club for their continued support and hospitality and also to our resident ‘Games Co-Ordinator’ Phil Cummins on another job well done.
