Under 45 Singles & Under 60 Doubles ‘Round Up’

The Spearwood Dalmatinac Club was a buzz last night as another fantastic crowd turned out for the 2nd graded event of the year, the Under 45 Singles and Under 60 Doubles.

Fifty five men and women battled it out in the singles with some great darts thrown and some of the favourites being knocked out early.  The Dalmatinac Club’s Dave Stanley and the Italian Club’s Vince Galati both played solidly all night and faced off in the final with ‘Mr 57’, Vince Galati finally taking the honours.

The Under 60 Doubles also saw some great match ups throughout the night with many of the games going to the final 5th Leg. The ‘Kardy Kats’ pairing of Mark Walsh and Aaron Nicholas were consistant all night and deserved their place in the final against the steady Dalmatinac Club’s Gary Hunter and Paul Brotherston with the latter proving a smidgeon too strong, eventually taking out the title.

Congratulations and well done to the ‘Old Maestro‘ Gary Hunter on his brilliant 170 Peg

Thanks once again to everyone for coming along and supporting the event and a special mention of a job well done by Games Co-Ordinators Phil Cummins and Mark Walsh.

The Darts WA ‘State Teams Championships’ were held last weekend at the Belmont Sports & Recreation Club and in a very strong field, our No. 1 side took on allcomers to become overall winners in Division 2.

Open Doubles & U/50 Singles ‘Round Up’

A good turn out for the first graded event of the season was held at the Dalmatinac Club on Wednesday night 2nd April and a high quality contest took place in both the ‘Open Doubles’ and the ‘Under 50 Singles’.

Some good solid darts were thrown throughout the night by the 44 starters in the Singles but he boys from the Kardy Kats had come to play and strong performances from Troy Hewer and Mike Turner eventually saw the pair face off in the final with Mike Turner sneaking over the line to take the honours.

In the Doubles, the father and son combination of Kim and Todd Lewis played brilliantly all night, with a win against the strong pairing of Basil Thorne and Brodie Little in the Semi’s to force their way into the final. The other Semi Final saw newcomer Nino Galunic and partner Shane Wright edge out Gavin Horner and Steele Flight to secure their spot in the final. A great game with Nino Galunic and Shane Wright eventually taking the honours over the Lewis boys.

A big thank you once again to the Spearwood Dalmatinac Club for their continued hospitality and also to Games Co-Ordinators Mark Walsh and Phil Cummins for a job well done.

Premier League Finals ‘Round Up’

      Bailey Marsh & Tim Pusey

The Spearwood Dalmatinac Club again played host to this year’s ‘Premier League Finals’. The night was tipped to be an absolute cracker and did not disappoint with the ‘Top 8’ Premier League players battling it out to see who would be crowned Champion for 2024.

 Q F 1.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (87.56) defeated Kim Lewis (79.14)                   6 – 2

Q F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (76.42) defeated Ron Kneale (68.35)              6 – 0

Q F 3.  (Best of 11)     Dave Burke (75.27) defeated Lewis Kirk (71.07)                  6 – 2

Q F 4.  (Best of 11)     Denis Parr (75.15) defeated Gary Stevens (68.71)               6 – 5

S F 1.  (Best of 11)     Tim Pusey (92.60) d Dave Burke (81.88)                            6 – 2

Tim jumped out the blocks winning the first three legs before Dave could register his account, taking out the 4th leg in 13 darts before Tim rattled off the next two legs to make it 5 – 1 his way. Dave was playing well but could not match the power scoring of the young ace, taking out the winning leg in 12 darts (137, 134, 180 & 50 Peg)

 S F 2.  (Best of 11)     Bailey Marsh (82.25) d Denis Parr (80.56)                          6 – 5

The 2nd Semi of the night was an absolute ripper. Both players going ‘Hammer & Tong’ and after 6 x legs were 3 x legs each. Bailey put his foot on the pedal and took out the next 3 x legs to make the score line 6 – 3 his way. The “Menace” wasn’t done yet and chimed in with a brilliant 12 darter in Leg 9 (140, 180, 96 & 85 Peg) and also took out Leg 10 to make it 5 Legs a piece before Bailey took out the 10th leg to earn himself a spot in the Final .

 Final    (Best of 13)     Tim Pusey (91.30) d Bailey Marsh (85.57)                          7 – 6

A replay of the last three year’s final between two of the state’s most exciting and talented young dartplayers did not disappoint with both players turning on some power scoring and clinical pegging. Bailey drew first blood, taking out the first leg in 14 darts (62 Peg) before Tim bounced back taking out Leg 2 but Bailey was quick to respond with an awesome 12 dart game in Leg 3 that included a 135 check out. The boys were going hard at it and after 6 x Legs, the score line was 3 – 3 before Bailey took out Legs 7 and 8 to make it 5 – 3 his way.

The “Magnet” was having none of it and rattled off the next 3 x Legs to take him 1 x Leg from victory but “The Ghost” wasn’t done yet and chimed in with a brilliant 13 dart game to make to score line 6 x games each. Tim had ‘The Shot’ in the last leg and took full advantage, taking out 32 (Bailey wanting 40) to take out this year’s title of ‘Premier League Champion’.

Congratulations to Tim, commiserations to Bailey and a big thank you to Mike Condon, Dave Charnock and Lewis Kirk for all their help and also to everybody that came along to watch an awesome game of “Premier League” darts.

U/60 Singles & U/45 Doubles ‘Round Up’

The final ‘Graded’ Singles and Doubles event for the 2024 season saw some fantastic darts thrown in both the Under 60 Singles and the Under 45 Doubles. The Fremantle Italian Club’s Darrin Sigley was solid all night and edged out  the Dalmatinac Club’s Gary Hunter in a hard fought singles final, whilst the Doubles final was an all Jandakot Jets affair with seasoned campaigners Peter Nahirney and Shane Marciano proving too strong for Club team mates Conrad Dalais and Tony Sharland.

Finally, our thanks to the Dalmatinac Club for their continued support and hospitality and also to our resident ‘Games Co-Ordinator’ Phil Cummins on another job well done.

Open Singles & U/50 Doubles ‘Round Up’

This year’s ‘Open Singles’ saw a strong field of some of the States finest darting talent. An event that boasts previous multiple winners including Graham Hunt (87, 95, 96 & 98), Ossie Ford (94, 04 & 07), Adam Rowe (09, 011 & 013) and of course the legendary Kim Lewis (97, 06, 08, 012 & 019)

The boards were smokin’ with some brilliant darts being thrown, including a maximum check out of ‘170’ by Bailey Marsh. The Semi Finals of Tim Pusey v Gary Stevens and Kim Lewis v Bailey Marsh were tipped to be a couple of ‘Crackers’ and the boys didn’t disappoint, with Tim Pusey and Kim Lewis winning their way into the Final. A terrific game between two brilliant players eventually saw Tim take out the honours to give him his third  FDDA ‘Open Singles’ title….congratulations Tim.

The ‘Under 50 Doubles’ event was well supported and saw some great tussles throughout the night. The in form pairing of Cockburn Bowling Club’s Dave Doody and Paul Stuart were solid all night and eventually took the honours in the final over fellow Clubmen Tim Barnes and Grant Werner.
