Before I go into last night’s results it was great to see 6 out of the 12 premier league players selected to trial for this year’s WA state squad (4 FDDA and 2 SSDA), congratulations to Brad Austen, Kim Lewis, Lewis Kirk and Peter Sutton from Fremantle and to Tim Pusey and Mick Zdun from South Suburban, good luck in the trials lads. Brad, Tim and Kim all featuring in the top 8 averages, well done.

Tim Pusey registered the highest average this week with 92.94 and two wins. Also unbeaten in week 10, Brad Austen and Kim Lewis winning both of their games and Lewis Kirk playing three on the night and taking the maximum 6 points available to boost his ladder standing. Lewis registered the highest finish of the night with a 156 and there was plenty of other ton plus pegs, notably Brad with a 138 and Steve with a 127.

Joe Salter improved on last week’s effort to register a point against Peter Sutton in a 5-5 draw and led 3-0 against Brad with some clinical pegs only for the experience of Brad to show through seeing him run out the eventual winner 6-3. 13 180’s a decent haul, Tim and Mick with 3 each, Lewis and Joe 2 each.

A season high group average of 79.12 from the 10 players (Damo and Graham missing this week) showed the standard is improving as the season progresses. The matches are getting tighter as we approach the halfway point next week and with just 5 points separating 2nd and 5th and plenty still to play for the focus moves to week 11.

Week 9 produced some very close games, 3 x 5-5 draws and a few 6-4 wins, the group averaged just under the 80 mark at 77.64 (11 players) so the standard was high once again. 21 180’s with Brad Austen hitting 6, the most of the evening. Highest peg of week 9 went to Damo with a 160 out in his match versus Brad, an entertaining 5-5 contest with both players pushing the 90 average mark and the 160 peg surpassing the previous season best of 156 out held by Matt Brown.

Onto the other matches, Matt and Mick stretched their unbeaten runs to two weeks, Matt with a win and a draw taking 3 points and Mick taking the maximum 4 from his two wins. The experience of Kim Lewis saw him produce a fight back from 4-0 down against Dave to run out a 6-4 winner. Kim also won his first game of the evening against the improving Joe Salter who registered his highest single game average of the season 77.61 and was unlucky on pegs or it could of been much closer than the 6-2 end scoreline. Kim taking 4 points on the night to move into 3rd above Dave on legs won.

Closed FDDA singles next week, Wednesday 03rd May so the premier league will resume on Wednesday 10th May for round 10.

With Brad, Joe and Peter missing this week it was left to the remaining 9 to battle it out for the points on offer. 10 matches on the night saw some high quality action starting off with Tim v Damon in the very first game, 6 180’s in the game and averages of 92 and 101 respectively eventually resulted in Damon getting the 6-3 win from being 3-0 down. It didn’t get any easier for Tim as he faced Kim Lewis next and a 89.95 average from Tim for the night not enough to take home any points, unfortunate after playing so well.

Damo went on to hit 9 180’s on the night winning two out of his three matches, meaning the unbeaten run ended in week 8 with Dave taking a 6-3 win in the final game of the evening. Dave and Kim finished the night with two wins from two played and Mick also finished undefeated on the night with a win and draw to add 3 points to his tally, also hitting the highest peg 105. Matt Brown was the other player not to lose any of his matches, banking two points with a couple of 5-5 draws.

18 x  180’s on the night saw the 100 barrier easily surpassed in week 7, Brad and Tim leading the way with 4 each and both players undefeated picking up 5 and 4 points respectively. Brad’s 5 points moves him into 2nd place in the chase to catch Damon. At the moment that is looking tough as Damo picked up another 3 wins and without dropping a leg in week 7 to move onto an impressive 34 points in 1st position.

Peter Sutton bounced back from a first game defeat with some excellent finishing to take a win against Dave, finishes of 76 and 115 in the last 3 legs seeing Peter to a deserved 6-4 win. Lewis Kirk continued his good form and his run of draws, drawing both games on the night. Graham Parker, Steve Doherty and Kim Lewis all picked up one win each in week 7. After a busy weekend at the Metro’s, it was back to business in week 6 of the Premier League. With the players now settled into the new format the averages are going up and the competition is fierce.

Tim Pusey kicked off the night with 108.97 in his win against Joe Salter, superb performance including a couple of 3 shot legs. Brad Austen continued his good form with 89.51 for the night and two more victories. Steve Doherty registered his first win of the campaign and the highest peg of the night with a 141 out shot. Lewis Kirk put in a steady performance and was unlucky to draw 2 of his 3 matches, winning the other.

Highest average of the night went to Damon 94.06. Kim Lewis registered a 93.65 and 4 180’s in a close encounter with Damon, which ended in a 5-5 draw. Total 180’s so far for the group stands at 90 so going into week 7 the 100 mark is surely going to be passed.

Looks like some top darts thrown this week with some top averages in all grades. A couple of 60’s in B Reserve and those mid 50’s in the lower grades would be fine in A Grade the way some of us are going so well done you blokes.

Unfortunately at the time of writing we have not had results sent in from B Reserve Old Easts v Kardy Kats so we have no idea who won and as a result, the ladder for you blokes will not be quite correct.
